Fibers - Embroidered Portraits - STARFEMPOR

Learn to paint portraits entirely out of thread. Students will learn basic embroidery and stitching techniques, learn to transfer images from photo or sketch to fabric and learn to transfer colors with stitches versus brush strokes. This is an artistic embroidery class, where students are encouraged to explore and experiment. 5 Sessions. Instructor: Patrizia Ferreira

Supply List:
6” inch embroidery hoop
Assorted colors of embroidery floss (all kinds work) – Need skin tone colors and values.
Pearl cotton any sizes and cotton yarn. Emphasis on skin shades.
Embroidery needles (best are called embroidery ribbon needles)
Large eye needle for yarn with sharp point
12”x12” cotton or linen (denim weight fabric)
Scraps of fabric any types (particularly, beige, brown, black and mustard or yellow colors)
Bits of roving (particularly, beige, brown, black and mustard or yellow colors)
Wool or synthetic yarn (any sizes, skin + hair colors)
Fabric Scissors
A fabric pen or sharpie
Black fabric Carbon paper
Tracing paper
10” square white cotton weave.

Students are welcome to bring a photo of a loved one or one that appeals to them and fits the 6" hoop or an image will be provided for them.
