Black History Month: Honoring the Local Legend, Joseph Winters

How did famous musical acts such as Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, the Supremes, and Diana Ross find their way to Raleigh in the mid-1900s? They performed in our capital city due to the hard work and dedication of former Raleigh Police Department officer and music promoter, Joseph “Joe” Winters, Sr.

Join us to celebrate his pioneering actions through an educational presentation, a pop-up exhibit, a live band, and light refreshments.
