User and Refund Policies for Membership Passes: Annual and Monthly Membership passes are non-transferable and therefore are only to be used by the person on the associated account. Upon entry the picture associated with the membership pass will be used to verify that the person using the membership is on the account. Furthermore, once a pass expires it becomes the property of the City of Raleigh. Replacements for lost or damage membership cards are available for $10.00. All refund requests must be submitted in writing stating the reason for the refund. Membership pass refunds will be issued for a medical reason with a physician’s statement/documentation or for relocation out of state with documentation.

The Lifeguard Basic Training membership is for individuals whose goal is to become a City of Raleigh lifeguard. Lifeguard Basic Training is a free weekly clinic held at Pullen Aquatic Center - 410 Ashe Ave. 5:00-7:00PM that allows participants to practice the prerequisite skills required to participate in a Raleigh Lifeguarding Course. An instructor will provide coaching and feedback for participants to improve their performance and endurance. Participants may arrive for the clinic from 4:50-6:15PM.

Lifeguard Basic Training will be held on the following dates:
2024 – December 6 & 20
2025 - January 3, 10 & 24, February 14, 21, & 28, March 7, 14, 21, 28 and April 4, 11, 18 & 25

The prerequisite skills include the following swim-tread-swim sequence:

Jump in, submerge, resurface and swim 150 yards continuously using the front crawl or breaststroke demonstrating rhythmic breathing.
Tread water for 2-minutes without using hands or arms and finish the skill by swimming an additional 50 yards.
300-yard continuous swim (freestyle or breaststroke).
A timed submerged brick retrieval in deep water using a 10 lb. brick.

Individuals must already be able to swim demonstrating basic stroke technique. This clinic does not provide swimming lessons for weak or non-swimmers. The instructor will evaluate individuals’ swimming ability and determine if they are eligible to participate in the clinic. Adult swim lessons and stroke improvement courses are available at various locations for those who need training beyond the scope of this clinic.

*Individuals under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian present and register in person.

When presented for entry only age and residency status will be asked, and no attempt will be made to verify whether the holder is on the associated account. All refund requests must be submitted in writing stating the reason for the refund. Punch Pass refunds will be issued for a medical reason with a physician’s statement/documentation or for relocation out of state with documentation.

PIckleball passes giver the pass holder access to designated pickleball locations for the entire session (January through April/May through August/September through December) at all of those locations. The session pass is just $10 per participant; nets and pickleballs are provided. A limited number of paddles are available at each site for participants to borrow. Please check with your preferred location for their pickleball days and times.

The Kayak Pool Session Pass is free and is required for all participants in weekly kayaking sessions at Optimist Pool. Once you register for your membership you will be allowed to check in at Optimist Pool and pay for your daily session or equipment rental. Pool Sessions are open practice times for all levels of paddlers, whether you’re working on playboating, perfecting your roll or just wanting to try out the sport. Formal instruction is not provided, but a brief basic boat orientation is available for beginners. So, take advantage of the warm water at the pool and practice your paddling! Typically held every Friday, 5pm-8pm, November through March.

Gyms at identified community centers will be open for parents or caregivers and their young children (ages 5 and under) to socialize and burn off some energy! Age appropriate sports and recreational equipment will be available for use. Please check with individual community centers for specific days and times and maximum number of participants.
